Mamale (little mother in the original
English name), is one of the best Yiddish
movies made in pre-war Poland, inrtoducing
the many talents of its super star Moly Picon.
Picon is playing a young daughter of a windower,
who is left with the responsibilities of raising
a family of seven helpless and indifferent people.
She becomes their little mother and manages to keep
the family together. The film is filled with
joyful songs and dances, as well as some
touching Yiddish mamme scenes. The movie was
made by most of the cast and crew of two other
most famous Yiddish film classics yidl mitn fiddle
and a letter from mother and it keeps with their
great tradition.
