The story is about one summer
in the life of a child in the
early days of Israel as a country.
It's a very special summer, though,
in some ways it's the story of us
all: Holocaust madness, pain, the
struggle to maintain the sanity and
naivete of childhood. This is one
summer in the life of Aviya, a ten
year old girl. Aviya's mother is a
Holocaust surviver. She stumbles
along the thin line between madness
and sanity. Aviya is growing up in
an orphanage. One summer she returns
to a very unstable home to live with
her strange mother who loves her very
much but cannot stop dreaming about
her dead husband and the good old days.
She is still waiting for him to come
back "because fathers do not die before
they get to see their newborn child".
The mother's condition deteriorates. Aviya
starts to dream more and more of meeting
her father, though this cannot be. He died
before she was born, though her mother had
always told her otherwise. How will they
cope with Aviya's mother state? what will
become of her…
