This film is based on a story by Shalom Aleichem,
the greatest Jewish story teller. The film takes
the viewer back to the stetel the Jewish village in
Eastern Europe, Tewje, the village milkman and his
family has to struggle with the burden of
everyday life among the goyim. His youngest
daughter falls in love with a goy, and is
banished from the family. The film presents the
deep belief in the Jewish rotah, the Jewish god
and the unity of the Jewish family.
