The cantors son is the true life story
of its star, Moishe Oysher.
The movie brings the story of a little boy
from Belz who follows his dream to
become a famous singer, and leaves his
family and friends in Europe, to make it
big in America.
At first he finds that finding success in
America is not that easy, but later his
unusual voice is being discovered, and
he shines to immediate fame. Later he has
to deal with the conflict of staying in
America to continue his career, or to
returen to Poland to meet his parents for
their golden anniversary.
Moishe Oysher is joined in this movie by
his real life wife, Florence Weiss, who is
playing his girlfriend in the movie.
The cantors son was the last movie of
the famous Yiddish-movie director
Sidney Goldin, who died during filming,
and the film was completed by LLya
Motyleff.
