| Shmuel Malvasky was born in the little town of Smela, near Kiev, in the Ukraine, in 1894, and died in Lakewood New Jersey, in 1984. durind his youth, Shmuel served as a choir boy under various cantors.Upon arriving to the USA in 1914, he was taken under the patronage of the famous cantor Yossele Rosenblat. He lived in his house for 8 years, until he married. Malavsky performed with Rosenblat in many concerts, and were known for their famous duets. Soon, he became a famous cantor by his own, and serverd as achief cantor in many synagogues. Shmuel Founded his Family Choir "Singers of Israel" in 1947, and together with his four daugthters and two sons they appeared in many concerts all over the Jewish world, publishingmant records. The "Singers of Israel" were known by their special and unique interpretations for cantorial music, as well as Yiddish songs and Israeli folk songs. | ||||||
