This calssic melodrama of the yiddish cinema,
tells the story of the new immigrants that came
to the usa from Eastern Europe at the begining of
the century, and the way they abandoned their
Jewish values and way of life. The new modern
society drives the caracters of the movie to drift
away from their traditional jewish values,
and thus creates a generation gap in the family.
