A "three fingers" type khamsa with a 
clover-like hanging piece at the wrist. 
The palm is shaped as a bell with a curved 
frame and a concave base. The setting of the
gems accentuates the fingers and nails.

An ornate, elegant piece of urban jewelry. 
Gold ornaments such as this one were often 
set with precious stones, chosen both for 
their hue and value and for their magical 
significance.

Small bird, city name in Arabic, the year 1918.

An unusually large Khamsa, with elaborated vegetal 
patterns forming an eight-pointed star inside an 
octagonal flower. At the center of the star is a 
scaled fish, symbolizing fertility, with a small 
circle inside its triangular head marking the eye.
This is a recurrent design denoting the means of 
protection against the evil eye. The fish is 
flanked by two hands in relief.

The floral design is enclosed in a double 
ring and set with stone. Beneath it hangs 
a coin stamped with the year 1299 (1879), 
denoting plenty and prosperity. this 
enameled Khamsa is also typical of 
Jewish metalworking in south Morocco.
